About

TVNewsCheck and Sports Video Group will present NewsTECHFutures Retreat, a gathering designed to bring engineering leaders together to talk about emerging news technology issues. Set for Thursday, May 31 at Atlanta’s OMNI CNN Center hotel, the retreat will offer a unique opportunity — in a relaxed, intimate setting — for leading TV engineers to explore issues such as producing live news over IP; risk management during an IP transition; implementing AI for weather and news; planning and budgeting for AR; optimizing AR for weather and news and personalizing the news on platforms like OTT and ATSC 3.

NewsTECHFutures Retreat will kick off with a Technology Tour of CNN led by Turner’s Bob Hesskamp, Head of Engineering; Michael Koetter, SVP Digital Media Systems and Matthew Holcombe, SVP Production Broadcast Engineering. After guiding NewsTECHFutures attendees through a tour of the technologies they find most interesting, the three leading Turner engineering executives will engage in a conversation and Q&A with attendees about what they are learning as they transition Turner’s Atlanta campus to IP and build an all-IP news facility for CNN in New York.
