Kristen Hampton

Raycom Media, "Duchess of Merriment"

Kristen Hampton is an Emmy-award winning reporter and host whose passion for telling personal stories began at an early age. Her unbridled curiosity served as a touchstone as she grew up in Augusta, GA. A chance opportunity during a live, local news cast set her path as a journalist. At 18, Hampton entered the field as a studio camera operator for WAGT in Augusta. Her natural talent propelled her quickly and soon she was reporting on-air.

In 2003, Hampton moved to Charlotte, NC and joined WBTV. She reported and produced “The Good News” for the 5:30 p.m. newscast and covered everything from genius triplets to Elvis impersonators to a 98-year-old bridesmaid. Her 2015 report on breast cancer screenings showed Hampton receiving a mammogram to demystify the process and reassure women that it was worth the discomfort. The piece won an Emmy.

In 2017, Hampton turned the camera on herself, using Facebook Live to stream video of her reporting adventures. During a quest for the perfect eyebrow, she launched “Product Testing Tuesday (PTT).” Her honest and hilarious review of stamp-on eyebrows went viral with more than 7 million views. That was all it took for Hampton to search “The Zon” (Amazon) for unique and oddball products to try on herself in her car office, or as she calls it, “carfice” (news SUV).

Hampton’s childlike curiosity and love of storytelling have come full circle. She loves entertaining her 600K+ Facebook fans, creating content for Raycom Media, and has "the best job in the world."
