NBC News Digital, Head of Product

Saleem Malkana is the head of product for NBC News Digital, leading product, design, and user research for the division’s digital brands and platforms across NBC News, MSNBC, and the TODAY show. His team is responsible for the strategy and roadmap of the user experience and product platform, which delivers storytelling experiences across the web, mobile devices, and TVs.

Prior to joining NBC News, Malkana was the head of product at AMC Networks’ direct-to-consumer arm, helping to launch and grow four premium subscription OTT services: Shudder, Sundance Now, AcornTV, and UMC, totaling 2 million subscribers.

Malkana joined AMC Networks from Viacom, where he led the creation of an events platform, which supported the digital experiences of MTV, VH1, and other brands’ tentpole events, including the VMAs. Prior to joining Viacom, he was a product lead at Amazon, where he managed Amazon Prime Video’s iOS product worldwide.

Malkana has been dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion throughout his career. Recently, he helped to found Asian Americans in Media (AIM), an organization that empowers Asian Americans in media & entertainment and advocates for diverse perspectives both behind and in front of the camera.
