Victor Murphy

WTLV-TV First Coast News, Director of Technology

Victor Murphy’s career began in 1982 at WEVU-TV, the ABC affiliate in Fort Myers, Florida. He was a news photographer, newscast director, and master control supervisor.

In 1988, Murphy moved to Washington, D.C. where he worked at Mobile Video Services, WTTG Fox 5, the Freedom Forum, USA Today, and the National Geographic Channel. During this time, he was a director and videographer for both local and national network productions.

In 2004, Murphy joined WUSA-TV as production manager and in 2006 he was promoted to director of technology and operations, where he installed his first virtual set system in 2014. In 2015, Murphy transferred to TEGNA’s WTLV-WJXX in Jacksonville, Florida as director of technology, where he continues in his role as a VR and AR advocate.
