NewsTECHForum: News Production And The Cloud
By TVN Staff on November 19, 2024
Many news organizations want to move their operations into the cloud, but its unpredictable costs and potential latency pose serious risks. News Production in the Cloud, a panel at TVNewsCheck’s 11th annual NewsTECHForum conference at the New York Hilton on Dec. 17, will confront how news tech leaders have made successful forays into cloud or hybrid production, how those efforts succeeded and where the biggest challenges to cloud adoption remain.
Mike Masek, senior director, production application engineering, NBCUniversal Operations and Technical Services; Walid Hamri, AVP, media systems engineering, Sinclair Broadcast Group; Stefan Hadl, SVP, broadcast engineering & technology, Hearst Television; Mark Gray, SVP of network and station operations, The E.W. Scripps Co.; and Bob Valinski, sales manager, Vizrt Americas, will join moderator Glen Dickson, TVNewsCheck contributing editor, for the discussion.
“With cloud migrations into sporting events and awards shows can have predictable costs, but when you’re talking about massive hours of news each day, week and year, those costs can become enormously more daunting,” said TVNewsCheck Editor Michael Depp. “This panel will delve into where evolving kinds of hybridity remain options, where cloud hubbing can come into play and the latest on improvements to cloud latency.”
