Jonathan Leff

Jonathan Leff is global editor, newsroom AI and financial news strategy at Reuters, responsible for steering the newsroom's use of artificial intelligence and other technologies to enhance its journalism, and for Reuters' news delivery to financial professionals through its deep partnership with LSEG, its largest customer.

With the rise of generative AI, Leff was named to lead newsroom AI and technology strategy across global text and visuals in 2024, representing editorial in major product and platform initiatives and ensuring innovation strengthens Reuters’ speed, accuracy and trust. Since 2017, he has also been the primary liaison between LSEG and the newsroom, aligning Reuters coverage and capabilities with the needs of financial professionals worldwide.

A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Leff joined Reuters as a correspondent in Lithuania in 1998 and later spent 15 years as an oil and commodities specialist, eventually becoming global editor for commodities, overseeing more than 150 reporters, columnists and editors worldwide. He is also (slowly) hiking the Appalachian Trail.
